A print of Lubrificanti FIAT (FIAT Lubricants), 1934, by Marcello Nizzoli

First created for FIAT by Marcello Nizzoli in 1925, this figure, known as “L’omino bianco” (the little white man) was a stylized version of one of the mechanics who accompanied professional drivers in races.

Nizzoli—best known as the chief designer of Olivetti typewriters—was a student of Futurism and greatly influenced by Fortunato Depero, whose style and love of blocky semi-human figures is clearly visible in Nizzoli’s work.

Measures 15.25 x 11 inches. Ships rolled.
