A print of L'Intransigeant, 1925, by A.M. Cassandre.
The director of the daily newspaper L'Intransigeant, Léon Bailby, commissioned Cassandre to create an advertisement with the theme of "information." In Cassandre's design, a shouting newsboy announces the daily headlines. His ear is connected to telegraph wires, complete with ceramic insulators, implying that the news was delivered to the journal with such rapidity that it could compete with radio. Born in Ukraine, Cassandre moved to Paris to study painting. From 1923 to 1928, he worked for the Hachard printing office, introducing his interpretation of Modernism to the world through advertising.
Measures 11 x 15.25 inches. Ships rolled.
