Estonian architect Gert Sellheim emigrated to Australia in 1926, after an avant-garde artistic education in Germany, Austria, and France. Within a few years, he established his own commercial art studio in Melbourne. The Australian National Travel Association commissioned him to design a series of posters to "visualize the story of Australia's emergence as a modern nation of the future."
