This embroidered patch was inspired by Moulin Rouge: La Goulue, 1891, by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.
Toulouse-Lautrec designed this poster to advertise a performance of the dancer La Goulue at the iconic Moulin Rouge dance hall in Montmartre. This was Toulouse-Lautrec's first commissioned poster and its popularity ensured that the streets of Paris would be plastered with thousands of copies of his subsequent poster designs.
