This 3D-effect acrylic magnet features Kelvinator, 1961, by Lefor-Openo.

The posters of postwar France rarely made plain its daunting economic challenges. Instead, advertising focused on producing bright, optimistic images that saturated streets with cute rather than with chaos. This trend was epitomized by a female design team known as Lefor-Openo (Marie-Claire Lefort and Marie-Francine Oppeneau), whose signature upbeat, cartoonish characters would become emblematic of French mid-century commercial and political advertising.

Here, Lefor-Openo uses their signature character to show a “happy” young bride married to her Kelvinator refrigerator (a name derived from the Kelvin temperature scale in which the lowest possible temperature is “absolute zero”). Many companies incorporated marriage-coded iconography in their advertisements to suggest that a certain item was essential for any couple starting a new life together.
