This catalog is the most comprehensive and most completely illustrated publication on the works the Mexican printmaking workshop, El Taller de Gráfica Popular (TGP). It includes essays by Deborah Caplow, Elizabeth Kathleen Mitchell, Helga Prignitz-Poda, collector Michael T. Ricker, Arturo García Bustos and Pablo Méndez, each addressing a different aspect of the workshop. Detailed entries provide more information on the individual works.
The TGP was very influential among printmakers like Lorenzo Homar, Carlos Raquel Rivera, and Rafael Tufiño, who were exposed to its work through exhibitions and reproductions. Black American artists, most notably the couple Charles White and Elizabeth Catlett, also went to work at the TGP in Mexico City in 1946.
