Our official exhibition poster for Art Deco: Commercializing the Avant-Garde on view at Poster House from September 28, 2023–February 25, 2024.
The poster features Modiano, 1929, by Róbert Berény. After studying in Paris, Berény became one of the first artists to introduce Cubism, Expressionism, and Fauvism to the Hungarian avant-garde. These influences combine to create a decidedly Art Deco composition, featuring an economical use of sharp lines and bold color. His client, Modiano, was a Trieste-based rolling-paper company. The brand was so popular in Hungary that it ultimately built a factory in Budapest.
Offset Lithography on Mohawk Strathmore Cambric Platinum White 80C (216 GSM). Measures 24 x 18 inches. Ships rolled.
